Gwangju City Announces and Officially Declares Road Names within Bitgreen Industrial Complex
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 13th that the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety decided and officially announced on the 8th the road names spanning two or more cities/provinces within the Bitgreen Industrial Complex through the Central Road Name Address Committee's review.
The four metropolitan roads decided and announced by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety are roads spanning Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City, and Wolya-myeon, Hampyeong-gun within the industrial complex. They were named ‘Bitgreen Sandan-ro’, ‘Bitgreen Jungang-ro’, ‘Bitgreen 16-ro’, and ‘Bitgreen 18-ro’, respectively, with the start and end points of the roads set from west to east according to the principle of road naming.
The road names within the industrial complex were discussed in a meeting on February 6th among the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Gwangju City, Jeollanam-do, and other related organizations. To symbolize Gwangsan-gu and Hampyeong-gun, the name ‘Bitgreen’ was used, designating the main road as ‘Bitgreen Sandan-ro’, the central road within the complex as ‘Bitgreen Jungang-ro’, the eastern part (Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City) as ‘Bitgreen Dong-ro’, and the western part (Wolya-myeon, Hampyeong-gun) as ‘Bitgreen Seo-ro’.
Road names within the industrial complex other than the metropolitan roads, such as Bitgreen Dong-ro (Gwangju) and Bitgreen Seo-ro (Hampyeong), will be finalized and assigned by the respective local governments according to the road naming principles agreed upon in the related organizations' meetings.
The Bitgreen Industrial Complex is located in Deokrim and Samgeo-dong areas of Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City, and Wolya-myeon area of Hampyeong-gun, Jeonnam. It is a national industrial complex developed by Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), with a total site area of 4,071,000㎡. The area within Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju City, is scheduled for completion this year as Phase 1, and the Hampyeong-gun area is scheduled for completion in 2023 as Phase 2.

Lee Su-won, Director of the City Land Information Division, said, “With the metropolitan road names decided by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the remaining road names within the industrial complex will be assigned promptly according to the principles agreed upon in the related organizations' meetings for the convenience of the citizens of the cities and provinces using the Bitgreen Industrial Complex.”
