[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jong-gil] The representative cultural heritage festival, the ‘Royal Culture Festival,’ will be held in the fall due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The Cultural Heritage Administration’s Office of Royal Palaces and Tombs announced on the 13th that this year’s postponed ‘Royal Culture Festival’ will take place in September and October. The Royal Culture Festival is an exhibition, experience, and performance festival held at sites such as Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, and Deoksugung Palaces. Approximately 640,000 people participated last year. Although there were plans to hold the festival in the first and second halves of the year starting this year, it was hindered by COVID-19.

Instead, it will be unified with the Chuhyang Daeje and held on November 7. Jongmyo Daeje is a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. During the Joseon Dynasty, it was held five times a year, but currently, it is held twice, in May and November. Originally, the Jongmyo Daeje scheduled for next month was planned for the 3rd.
