KT Skylife Strengthens Competitiveness of Android-Based Products
[Asia Economy Reporter Koo Chae-eun] KT Skylife has revamped the TV app lineup for its Android products and launched a personalized TV app recommendation service starting from the 13th. This move aims to improve the TV app services for satellite Android products in response to the recent increase in OTT service usage through TV apps.
The new TV app lineup selects and provides apps that offer high-quality video and audio suitable for TV screens, as well as diverse and specialized video services that are not available on the currently limited broadcast channels. Users can install and use the recommended apps directly from the TV app menu using the remote control.
In this revamp, Skylife has included ‘AfreecaTV’, ‘Naver V Live’, ‘Berlin Philharmonic Concert Hall’, and ‘Viet Channels’ as recommended apps. The recommended apps were selected considering various customer groups such as those who prefer live broadcasts, different age groups, and multicultural families. Skylife plans to update the recommendations regularly based on customer needs. In particular, Skylife will provide TV apps for overseas broadcast channels selected for the 2.36 million foreigners and multicultural families residing in Korea.
Along with the TV app recommendation service, Skylife will also strengthen user guidance to improve accessibility. Instructions on how to use TV apps, including how to log in with a Google account, and introductions to apps of the month will be broadcast on the Skylife guide channel and the official YouTube channel.
Going forward, Skylife plans to enhance the user interface by developing and partnering to offer differentiated content competitiveness with apps for ▲live broadcasts ▲videos ▲games ▲education that can be conveniently used on TV. They will also implement a TV app content portal that allows users to preview popular content for each app and use the desired apps.
