Creation of Smart Solar Shade Shelter at Gocheok Neighborhood Park in Guro-gu
Achieved Highest Score for Two Consecutive Years in Seoul City Public Contest... Secured 150 Million KRW Budget
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is implementing the ‘Design Solar Power Specialization Project’ to create an energy self-sufficient parking lot and a smart solar shade rest area in Gocheok Neighborhood Park.
Guro-gu announced on the 13th, “We secured a project budget of 150 million KRW by receiving the highest score for two consecutive years in the Seoul city public contest,” adding, “Accordingly, we will install solar power facilities with specialized designs in Gocheok Neighborhood Park.”
Nine autonomous districts in Seoul applied for this ‘Design Solar Power Specialization Project’ contest. Guro-gu was selected as the best district by receiving high evaluations in design creativity, plan appropriateness, expected effects, and project execution capability.
The ‘Energy Self-sufficient Parking Lot’ will be implemented by installing hemispherical solar power equipment shaped like ocean waves above the existing public parking lot in Gocheok Neighborhood Park. The expected annual power generation is 38,128 kWh. The generated electricity will be used to power the underground public parking lot, free electric vehicle charging services, and fine dust information boards. The upper facility installation will also protect parked vehicles from snow, rain, and direct sunlight.
The ‘Smart Solar Shade Rest Area (Pergola)’ will be created as a resting space for residents. The solar panels installed on the roof will serve as shade. Two rest areas will be constructed, with an expected annual power generation of 2,541 kWh. The generated electricity will be used for residents to charge laptops and smartphones.
Information boards that provide real-time solar power generation status and fine dust concentration will also be installed. This project is scheduled to start construction in May and be completed by August.
Last year, Guro-gu installed electric vehicle charging stations in the district office plaza through a public contest selection.
