All-Out Efforts to Block COVID-19 Inside Gangnam District Office
All Employees Must Wear Masks and Eat Facing One Direction... "No Administrative Gaps Should Occur Due to COVID-19 Infiltration"
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangnam-gu (District Mayor Jeong Soon-gyun) has been focusing on blocking COVID-19 infections within the government office building, which has many visitors, through regular disinfection, mask-wearing, and one-directional dining since the outbreak earlier this year.
The district mandates the use of hand sanitizer, temperature checks, and mask-wearing for all entrants, and has installed transparent partitions at service counters handling face-to-face tasks such as vehicle registration and passport issuance to completely block infections from asymptomatic individuals.
Additionally, disinfection is carried out once a week throughout the entire building, including restrooms, elevators, and lobbies, and surfaces frequently touched by hands such as door handles and stair railings are disinfected every two hours. Antibacterial films have been applied to elevator buttons.
To minimize the risk of infection among employees, all staff within the building are required to wear masks and report online as a rule. Tables and chairs in the cafeteria are all arranged in one direction, and the issue of insufficient seating has been resolved through a three-shift lunch schedule. Civil service counter staff who require shift work use the cafeteria starting at 11:30 AM, general staff at 12:00 PM, and shift workers at 12:30 PM.
