Asymptomatic COVID-19 Positive Case in a 70s Korean American Who Entered Guri 3 Days Ago
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] In Guri-si, Gyeonggi Province, a woman who arrived from the United States three days ago tested positive for COVID-19. The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Guri-si has increased to six.
On the 12th, Guri-si announced that a woman in her 70s with U.S. nationality, identified as Ms. A, tested positive at around 3:40 PM that day.
Ms. A had been experiencing chronic back pain and neuralgia symptoms but was confirmed to be asymptomatic for COVID-19. She is currently receiving treatment at Uijeongbu Hospital of Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center.
Ms. A arrived at Incheon Airport at around 6 PM on the 9th and then took her daughter's car to her daughter's house located on Achasan-ro in Guri-si, arriving about two and a half hours later. On the 10th, she stayed at home all day, and on the 11th at around 1 PM, she underwent a COVID-19 test at a public health center screening clinic and was confirmed positive.
Ms. A wore a mask while traveling to her daughter's house and took a self-quarantine ambulance when going to the screening clinic. The quarantine authorities have completed disinfection of her daughter's house and are conducting tests on her daughter, who was a close contact.
Health authorities believe Ms. A was infected with COVID-19 in the United States.
Earlier, on the morning of the 11th, a man in his 60s, Mr. B, residing in Yeongbuk-myeon, Pocheon-si, tested positive at Hanyang University Guri Hospital.
Since the 9th, Mr. B showed symptoms such as pneumonia, cough, sputum, and difficulty breathing. Before his diagnosis, he visited a total of four internal medicine and surgical hospitals in the Pocheon area, wearing a mask each time he went to the hospital.
According to Pocheon City, on the 7th from 10 AM to 5 PM, Mr. B received treatment at Hanseong Internal Medicine located in Songwoo-ri, Soheul-eup, Pocheon-si, using a hospital vehicle. On the 8th, he visited Uncheon Seongsim Surgical Clinic in Yeongbuk-myeon, Pocheon-si, starting at around 9:40 AM.
On the 9th, he visited Hanseong Internal Medicine again, stayed at home on the 10th, and returned to Hanseong Internal Medicine on the 11th. At around 4 PM that day, Mr. B was transferred from Hanseong Internal Medicine to Hanyang University Guri Hospital, where he was tested for COVID-19 and confirmed positive.
He is currently receiving treatment at Soonchunhyang University Hospital in Bucheon.

Health authorities have disinfected Hanseong Internal Medicine and are investigating by securing the names of two family contacts, staff, and patient lists. They have also completed surrounding disinfection of Uncheon Seongsim Surgical Clinic and Ms. A’s residence.
