60s Police Officer Arrested for Unauthorized Quarantine Violation After Returning from Abroad
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Songpa-gu, Seoul announced on the 12th that a 68-year-old man who returned from the United States and violated self-quarantine guidelines by leaving without permission was arrested by the police.
Songpa-gu received a report around 2 p.m. on the 11th that a self-quarantined person had left without permission. At the time of the report, the man was not on the list of arrivals notified to Songpa-gu, but the police, who were requested to cooperate, confirmed that he was subject to self-quarantine. The police found the man around 2:30 p.m. and sent him back home.
The man, who did not have a mobile phone, left the quarantine location even after being sent home and went to a sauna and a restaurant. Around 7:35 p.m., his whereabouts were confirmed by the district office and the police, and he was arrested. However, the man tested negative for COVID-19.
