Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center Extends Operation of Agricultural Machinery Rental Service Office
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Agricultural Technology Center announced on the 12th that the Agricultural Machinery Rental Service Center will extend its Saturday operating hours from the 18th to June 20th to provide convenience to farmers who cannot use the service on weekdays during the farming season.
The Saturday operating hours will be from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and if agricultural machinery is needed on Sundays or public holidays, it can be picked up in advance from 5 p.m. the day before through prior reservation.
Depending on the model, the machinery can be used for up to three days, and rental availability can be confirmed in advance by phone.
In addition, the Agricultural Technology Center is temporarily reducing rental fees from April to July to support local farmers facing difficulties such as decreased agricultural product consumption and labor shortages due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic. The rental fee is fully waived on the first day, and if rented for two or more days, the normal fee is charged from the second day onward.
The city’s Agricultural Machinery Rental Service Center owns 444 units of 68 types of agricultural machinery, contributing to reducing farm management costs and alleviating labor shortages. The number of rentals has been increasing every year, receiving great support from local farmers.
Especially, since many farmers use the service, disinfection of rental agricultural machinery is conducted daily to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Yang Hee-yeol, head of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “As the demand for agricultural machinery increases, we will do our best to ensure thorough pre-inspection and maintenance so that farmers can use the machinery without inconvenience.” He added, “Please always follow safety rules when using agricultural machinery and avoid nighttime operation and working under the influence of alcohol.”
