Incheon City Operates Sterile Taxis Exclusively for Overseas Arrivals... Installed Droplet Barrier
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is operating dedicated taxis equipped with droplet-blocking protective shields for overseas arrivals entering through Incheon International Airport to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
According to the city on the 12th, there are a total of 100 dedicated safe sterile taxis for overseas arrivals, with droplet-blocking protective shields installed between the driver's seat and the rear and passenger seats.
Overseas arrivals can use these taxis at the dedicated taxi stands set up at Incheon Airport Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. Since the 11th, the taxi stands at Incheon Airport have been operated separately for overseas arrivals and the general public, and arrivals can only use taxis that have undergone special quarantine measures.
The city expects that operating dedicated taxis will help prevent close contact between overseas arrivals and the local community. Additionally, by preventing contact between taxi drivers and passengers, it is anticipated to aid the taxi industry, which has seen a sharp decline in sales due to COVID-19.
The city continues to support the taxi industry, which is struggling due to COVID-19, by providing masks, hand sanitizers, disinfectants, and quarantine equipment.

An official from Incheon City urged, "We ask that both taxi drivers and citizens comply with quarantine standards with the mindset that they are playing a role in preventing the domestic inflow of COVID-19, and that overseas arrivals strictly follow self-quarantine rules after returning home."
