Son Hak-kyu: "Will Ask Whether Satellite Parties Representing the People Are 'Unconstitutional'... Constitutional Complaint on the 13th"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Son Hak-kyu, the Standing Election Committee Chairman of the Minsheng Party, announced on the 12th that he will file a constitutional complaint on the 13th questioning the constitutionality of the registration act of satellite parties by stating, "The satellite parties of the two major parties, the Democratic Party of Korea and the United Future Party, are destroying democracy and obstructing reform."
On the same day, Chairman Son held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office and said, "The Minsheng Party will protect democracy, which the vested interest parties, the Democratic Party of Korea and the United Future Party, are trying to damage."
He said, "Last year, the National Assembly switched to a mixed-member proportional representation system (MMP) to complete representative democracy and ensure that the will of the people is accurately conveyed. The MMP was a proven system that would evolve the politics of conflict into politics of dialogue and consultation, but now the Democratic Party of Korea and the United Future Party are trying to reverse it."
Chairman Son said, "They have damaged elections and democracy by creating fake, trick satellite parties," and "The Minsheng Party will represent the people and ask the Constitutional Court about the unconstitutionality of the registration act of satellite parties."
