Former Professor at Samyuk University Donates 100 Million Won in Scholarships for 10 Years Under Father and Son's Names

View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Hyun-joo] Samyook University announced on the 10th that former professor Ahn Byung-gu has donated nearly 100 million won in scholarships over the past 10 years in the name of his son, who passed away in an accident.
After his son passed away in an accident in 2010, former professor Ahn began donating under the name "Honggyu Scholarship Fund," named after his son. "Honggyu" was created by taking one character each from his son's name, Younggyu, and the name of Ahn's father, Hongsan.
On the 8th, former professor Ahn donated 32 million won as scholarships and development funds. The total amount donated steadily over 10 years has now reached 100 million won. The donations have continued even after his retirement in August last year. Through this scholarship fund, 39 Samyook University students have received scholarship benefits.

In addition, former professor Ahn donated 200 million won of his private funds to establish the Younggyu School in Turkana, Kenya, Africa, named after his son. Approximately 900 students are studying at this school.
