Seocho-gu Reports 20s Woman for Visiting Starbucks and BBQ Restaurant During Self-Quarantine
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Seocho-gu, Seoul, plans to file charges against an overseas entrant who violated self-quarantine guidelines by visiting local coffee shops and restaurants.
On the 10th, Seocho-gu announced that it intends to file charges against a 27-year-old woman residing in Jamwon-dong, who tested positive for COVID-19, for violating self-quarantine guidelines. According to the district, the woman entered the country from the United States on the 24th of last month and tested negative in the initial diagnostic test conducted by the Seocho-gu Public Health Center on the 30th.
The government mandated a two-week self-quarantine for entrants from the United States starting at midnight on the 27th of last month, so the woman, who arrived before this date, was not originally required to self-quarantine. However, since a confirmed COVID-19 case was identified on the flight she took upon returning, she was classified as a contact and was notified to self-quarantine on the 4th.
Despite the notification, the woman visited local establishments such as a cafe (Starbucks Sinsa Branch) and a barbecue restaurant (Choegoui Hanwoo Myeongwoo) on the afternoon of the same day, and the next day, she went again to a pork cutlet restaurant (Donkatsu Sinsa) as well as the cafe and barbecue restaurant she had visited previously. Subsequently, before her self-quarantine was to be lifted on the 7th, she was tested at the Seocho-gu Public Health Center and was confirmed positive. She is currently being treated after being transferred to Boramae Hospital.
