According to the district, Woori FIS (CEO Dong-yeon Lee), located in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, has donated a total of 7,000 health masks and 1,000 hand sanitizers to the Mapo Senior Care Integrated Center, a care service institution for elderly living alone, in three rounds since March.
A representative of Woori FIS said, "As this is a national crisis, companies should also contribute to the difficulties of the local community," adding, "We hope these donations will be well delivered to vulnerable groups in Mapo-gu and help overcome this crisis together."
The district plans to distribute the donated masks and hand sanitizers to about 1,000 low-income elderly who have difficulty purchasing public masks due to limited outdoor activities, as well as to dedicated social workers and care support staff.
Ocean Bio, a bio-venture company specializing in preventive medicine research (CEO Chae-su Lim), donated 1,500 spray disinfectants worth 50 million KRW to Mapo-gu on the 8th.
CEO Lim Chae-su stated, "I hope the disinfectants we directly manufactured will help elderly vulnerable to infection overcome COVID-19," explaining the purpose of the donation.
The donated disinfectants will be delivered to vulnerable elderly through the Korea Senior Citizens Association, Seongsan Welfare Center, and Mapo Senior Welfare Center, according to Ocean Bio's intentions.
Dongseo Food (CEO Kwang-bok Lee) donated 20,000 small health masks to Mapo-gu last month to support vulnerable groups affected by COVID-19.
Considering the masks are small-sized, the district supported kindergartens and elementary schools operating emergency care in the area, as well as Samdong Boys' Village.
Dongseo Food has continuously engaged in social contribution activities for marginalized groups, including donating 300,000 masks through the Community Chest of Korea in February, in addition to this donation.
Along with this, warm gestures from residents through local community centers continue.
At the Sangam-dong Community Center, 5-year-old Choi Siyoon visited holding his father's hand tightly, bringing two piggy banks containing all the savings he had collected with his small hands as his first-ever sharing. At Yonggang-dong Community Center, an anonymous angel left a message saying, "I ordered 8 bags of rice to the community center; please use them well when they arrive."
At Nopdeunttteut Gwangseong Church (Senior Pastor Jang-ho Lee) located in Sinsu-dong, 4 million KRW was donated to the Sinsu-dong Community Center to help low-income households in the area struggling due to COVID-19.
Mr. Jang Sang-bo (58), a basic livelihood security recipient living in Sinsu-dong, also delivered a handwritten letter along with donations and masks to the community center. He said, "Although it is a small amount, I want to help single-parent families facing difficulties such as job loss due to COVID-19," adding, "I have received a lot of help from the government as my life became difficult due to illness and I became a basic livelihood recipient. Although this small donation is embarrassing, I want to repay the grace I have received throughout my life even a little."
