Geumcheon-gu Wins Grand Prize in 'Policy Category' at Youth-Friendly Governance Awards
Selected as an Excellent Local Government in Youth Contribution Evaluation for Policies and Communication... Following Last Year's 'Comprehensive Grand Prize,' Awarded 'Policy Sector' Grand Prize for Two Consecutive Years
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) has been selected for the ‘Policy Award’ this year following last year’s ‘Grand Prize’ at the ‘Youth-Friendly Legislative Awards’ hosted by the Korea National Assembly Secretariat and organized by the Youth and Future Association.
The Youth-Friendly Legislative Awards recognize individuals and organizations that have led efforts to create a youth-friendly social environment, policies, and legislation to help young people live better lives. The award is presented by the Youth and Future Association to honor their hard work and to spread exemplary cases. This is the third year the awards have been held.
The district was highly evaluated for its achievements in youth policies, including △ operating the youth activity space ‘Cheongchun Building’ △ establishing the (tentative name) Geumcheon Youth Dream Center to support youth startup organizations △ setting up and raising funds for the Youth Future Fund △ operating a youth network to expand youth policy participation and communication △ providing customized support for single-person household youth, earning the ‘Policy Award.’
In the policy category, evaluation focused on local governments’ operation of youth participation bodies, youth support projects, and hosting and participating in youth-related events. The award was selected through a review process by a selection committee composed of about 100 experts and youth members, including university professors, CEOs, and accountants.
The award ceremony is scheduled to be held on September 12 at Yeouido Park during the ‘4th Korea Youth Day’ festival.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “This award is especially meaningful because the youth, who are the direct beneficiaries of the policies, highly evaluated Geumcheon-gu’s youth policies. We will continue to work harder to support youth entrepreneurship challenges and self-reliance foundations for a better life for young people.”
