[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) will extend the traffic and pedestrian path restrictions on the Yeouido Spring Flower Road, originally scheduled from April 1 to 11, until the 12th.
Additionally, the restriction on the Anyangcheon embankment walking trail will also be extended until the 12th.
This measure is to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and protect the lives and health of residents, anticipating that citizens tired of social distancing will go to see the cherry blossoms around Yeouido and Anyangcheon this coming weekend.
The district decided to extend the vehicle and pedestrian restrictions on the Yeouiseo-ro Spring Flower Road behind the National Assembly until the 12th and to continue strengthening basic order maintenance activities around Yeouinaru Station.
Also, the restriction on the Anyangcheon embankment walking trail will be extended by two days from the originally planned 10th to the 12th.
Earlier, to prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, the district canceled the '2020 Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival' for the first time in 16 years and restricted vehicle and pedestrian traffic on the Yeouido Spring Flower Road during the cherry blossom blooming period.
Furthermore, the area around Yeouinaru Station was designated as a special management zone, implementing various measures to minimize the influx of visitors, including △ deployment of social distancing guidance personnel △ placement of guide signboards, banners, and hand sanitizers △ announcement broadcasts around the subway station △ closure of Yeouido Hangang Park parking lots last weekend and non-stop service at nine nearby bus stops.
As a result, the dense crowding of more than 5 million annual tourists on the Yeouido Spring Flower Road was significantly alleviated, raising awareness of COVID-19 spread among visitors to Yeouido Hangang Park and contributing to infection prevention.
