Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport: "Consulting for Commercial and Multi-family Buildings to Save Energy"
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Jiwon] The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 9th that it will implement a 'Building Energy Performance Management Pilot Project' to identify sources of energy waste in commercial buildings and multi-family houses and propose improvement measures.
According to the Ministry, this project aims to diagnose the current status of energy performance and indoor air quality, identify problems, and then suggest improvement measures. Through this, the plan is to encourage building owners to voluntarily reduce energy consumption by improving performance.
The project targets small and medium-sized buildings such as commercial buildings and multi-family houses, prioritizing buildings where vulnerable groups such as infants and the elderly live. The application period is from the 13th of this month to the 29th of next month.
Buildings selected for the pilot project can receive consulting on optimized building energy performance management plans through analysis of insulation levels of exterior walls, windows, and doors, airtightness performance, operation status of mechanical and electrical equipment, and energy usage data. The Ministry also plans to provide consulting on improving building air quality.
Building A in Seoul, which received consulting in 2018, reduced energy consumption by about 43% through LED replacement, improvements in the power distribution room and air conditioning facilities, saving 47 million KRW annually.
