Air Busan A321LR First Deployment... Domestic Routes First Instead of Medium-Haul Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Reporter Yu Je-hoon] Air Busan announced on the 9th that it will deploy its latest aircraft, the A321LR, for the first time on the 10th.
According to Air Busan, the aircraft will be first assigned to flight BX8804 departing from Busan to Gimpo at 9 a.m. on the 10th. This aircraft will be operated on domestic routes until international flights resume.
Airbus's A321LR is a model with an extended range of the A321neo aircraft, and Air Busan is the first in East Asia to introduce it. Equipped with new radar and the latest navigation systems, its safety operation capabilities have been enhanced, and the new engine improves fuel efficiency by about 15%. Air Busan's A321LR operates with a total of 220 seats.
Originally, Air Busan planned to enter medium-haul routes with this model, which has a maximum range of 7,400 km, but due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic, international flights have been suspended, postponing the medium-haul debut.
Han Tae-geun, CEO of Air Busan, said, "It is meaningful to deploy Air Busan's first next-generation aircraft on the Busan-Gimpo route, where Air Busan first started operations," adding, "We will provide passengers with perfect safety and a comfortable flight with the new aircraft."
