[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) has been selected for the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's '2020 Robot Utilization Socially Vulnerable Benefit Support Project' competition.
This project is a Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy-led public contest aimed at promoting the welfare of socially vulnerable groups by distributing robots to the elderly and disabled, providing a stable living environment, and reducing the labor and psychological burden of care workers.
In January, the district formed a consortium with Seoul Digital Foundation, Toruk, Gangnam-gu, and three other autonomous districts, proposing a 'robot solution' that provides one-on-one customized education on the use of digital devices such as smartphones for seniors.
With this selection, the district plans to distribute 40 educational robots 'LIKU' (worth 200 million KRW) to local informatization education centers and senior welfare centers, and operate educational programs to bridge the digital divide from August to November.
Furthermore, starting with one-on-one digital education solutions, the district plans to introduce new content and functions utilizing robots to strengthen the digital capabilities of digitally vulnerable groups such as the elderly.
