Mungyeong-si Implements Special Support Project for Local Employment Response to COVID-19
Up to 500,000 KRW Monthly Support for Unpaid Leave Workers and Freelancers
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Young-wook] Mungyeong City announced on the 7th that it will implement the ‘COVID-19 Mungyeong City Regional Employment Response Special Support Project (Phase 1)’ to provide up to 500,000 KRW per person to unpaid leave workers, special-type workers, and freelancers affected by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The plan will be promoted in three forms: ▲Support for unpaid leave workers at COVID-19 affected workplaces (50,000 KRW per month) ▲Support for special-type workers and freelancers in blind spots (50,000 KRW per month) ▲Provision of short-term jobs for COVID-19 unemployed individuals (public jobs provided, monthly salary 1,800,000 KRW).
Mungyeong City announced the two types of support for unpaid leave workers and special-type workers/freelancers on its official website on the 6th, and online applications will begin on the 9th.
Applicants must attach relevant documents proving that no labor was provided from February 23 to March 31 and submit their applications online, by mail, or by visiting the administrative welfare center of their jurisdictional eup/myeon/dong.
Submitted applications will be reviewed for eligibility and deliberated by a review committee to finalize recipients, and the support funds will be paid into the bank accounts under the workers’ own names. Payments will be completed within 10 days after the application deadline (29th), and after the first application, the possibility of a second round of support will be decided in consultation with Gyeongsangbuk-do depending on budget conditions.
The short-term job provision project will be promoted after establishing a separate project plan.
