Junggi Sarang Nanum Foundation Opens Applications for 3rd Medical Expense Support for Cooperative Families
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Hyewon]The Small and Medium Business Love Sharing Foundation announced on the 7th that it will accept applications for the 3rd SME Cooperative Medical Expense Support Project for two weeks from the 8th to the 22nd.
The SME Cooperative Medical Expense Support Project is funded by a donation of the external allowance received by Kim Gi-moon, Chairman of the Korea Federation of SMEs, and is promoted quarterly.
Eligible applicants are workers employed by SME cooperatives and their families. Applications are accepted if medical expenses of 1 million KRW or more are incurred due to surgery or outpatient treatment, if the patient has been hospitalized long-term for more than one month, or if the patient suffers from a rare and intractable disease.
The support amount is 50% of the incurred hospital expenses, up to a maximum of 1 million KRW. Patients with rare and intractable diseases receive a fixed amount of 500,000 KRW.

Kim Young-rae, Chairman of the Foundation, said, “So far, we have been able to reduce the economic burden on SME cooperative workers who have been charged high medical expenses or whose economic activities have been interrupted due to illness or accidents through medical expense support,” and added, “This support project will also select necessary recipients appropriately in accordance with the purpose of the project.”
