Cheon Jeong-bae, Gwangju Seo-gu Eul Candidate, Pledges Early Promotion of 'Usu and Osu Sewage Facilities'
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] Cheon Jeong-bae, the Minsheng Party candidate for Seo-gu (Eul), Gwangju Metropolitan City, has pledged the "Early Promotion of the Rainwater and Sewage Separation Sewerage Facility Project in Sangmu 2-dong and Hwajeong 3·4-dong, Seo-gu" as a general election promise.
On the 6th, Candidate Cheon stated in a press release, "We will promote the project early by adjusting the national-local matching ratio and realizing the sewerage usage fees," and promised, "First, by securing national funds, we will carry out the urgent 'sewer odor improvement' project to immediately resolve daily life inconveniences."
He continued, "Sangmu 2-dong and Hwajeong 3·4-dong have poor living environments due to the lack of separation between rainwater (usu) and domestic sewage (osu), causing severe odors," adding, "It is also essential for eliminating living odors, improving the water quality of Gwangjucheon and Yeongsangang Rivers, and repairing aging sewer pipes."
He also pointed out, "This project requires Gwangju City to secure 147 billion KRW out of the total project cost of 210 billion KRW to receive 63 billion KRW in national funds," and noted, "Due to the excessive local burden of 70% compared to 30% national funds, the project has been delayed since 2014."
