Changwon-si, Gyeongnam Awarded 'Local Regulatory Innovation Meritorious Institution' Commendation
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kang Sharon] Changwon City in Gyeongnam announced on the 6th that it received the '2019 Local Regulatory Innovation Meritorious Institution' award from the Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety for its outstanding achievements in discovering and improving regulatory innovation tasks.
The city operates an online and offline regulatory reporting center to discover regulatory innovation tasks and runs the 'Gyumun Hyundap, Hidden Regulation Field Discovery Team,' which visits regulatory difficulty sites directly for consultations. It also discovers regulations that need improvement from the citizens' perspective through events such as regulatory reform idea contests and employee training to foster a regulatory innovation mindset.
Additionally, the city annually proposes over 100 improvements to central government departments regarding unreasonable regulations that hinder the fostering of new industries and new technologies, cause management difficulties for small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners, or cause inconvenience in citizens' daily lives.
Examples of improvements proposed and realized by Changwon City include ▲ easing restrictions on the number of approvals for domestic development of military supplies to activate the localization of defense parts ▲ easing restrictions on the scope of pilot business operations ▲ establishing laws related to the manufacturing, registration, and operation of unmanned vessels ▲ improving the issuance method of agricultural management entity registration certificates ▲ improving regulations on the cancellation of construction machinery operator licenses, among others, covering a wide range from resolving regulations related to new industries to alleviating inconveniences in citizens' daily lives.
