Guro-gu Expands Contactless Safe Book Loan Service
Added 5 Locations Including District Office Administrative Data Rooms and District Libraries to Existing 4, Total 9 Locations Operated... Apply on ‘Jihyeui Deungdae’ Website and Pick Up at Designated Unmanned Lockers
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Guro-gu (Mayor Lee Seong) is expanding its contactless safe book lending service.
Guro-gu announced on the 6th, "Due to the prolonged closure of libraries, the 'Safe Book Lending Service' we prepared has received high response from residents, so we decided to increase the participating libraries and relax the eligibility for users."
The 'Safe Book Lending Service' is a service that allows borrowing books without direct contact between people by using lockers at libraries.
Guro-gu started the service on the 23rd of last month at four public libraries: Kkum Namu Children's Library, Onnuri Library, Guro Miracle Library, and Gaebong Library. From the 23rd to the 3rd of this month, over 12 days, a total of 3,447 books were borrowed through the contactless safe book lending service (including three subway station smart libraries and one electronic library), showing high popularity.
Accordingly, Guro-gu will additionally operate the 'Safe Book Lending Service' at five locations including the district office administrative data room and public libraries such as Gungdong Children's Library, Geulmaru Hanok Children's Library, Gaebong Children's Library, and Haneul Library. The total number of available libraries has increased to nine.
In addition, books can be borrowed without contact at three smart libraries located at Sindorim, Gaebong, and Cheonwang stations, as well as at the electronic library.
The eligibility for using the service has also been relaxed. Previously, only holders of the 'Lighthouse of Wisdom' lending card could use the service, but now residents using the mobile app 'Seoul Citizen Card' are also eligible. To issue a Seoul Citizen Card, confirmation from a public library by phone is required.
Those who wish to borrow can apply on the Lighthouse of Wisdom website (https://lib.guro.go.kr/) between Monday 1 PM and Friday 1 PM. After receiving a notification text message, they can pick up the book from the designated unmanned locker. The lending period is two weeks.
