KAIST Appoints Former Deputy Prime Minister Kim Woo-sik as New Chairman
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Junho] The Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) announced on the 6th that it has appointed former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Technology Kim Woo-sik as its new chairman.
Chairman Kim served as a professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering at Yonsei University starting in 1968 and was president of Yonsei University for four years beginning in 2000. He subsequently held the positions of the 27th Chief of the Presidential Secretariat and Deputy Prime Minister as well as the 25th Minister of Science and Technology, significantly contributing to the development of national science and technology. He also served as a distinguished visiting professor at KAIST and as chairman of the Korean Council for University Education. Currently, he is chairman of the Creative Engineering Research Institute (Creative Leadership Academy) and chairman of the Science Culture Convergence Forum.
