Lee Hyung-seok, Gwangju Buk-gu Eul Candidate - Green Umbrella 'Child Safety' MOU Signed
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] Lee Hyung-seok, the Democratic Party candidate for Gwangju Metropolitan City Buk-gu (Eul) in the April 15 general election, announced on the 2nd that he signed a practical agreement with the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation to create a safe and happy country for children.
Candidate Lee stated, “To create a country where children are safe, I will establish institutional safety measures that further strengthen ‘child-first’ traffic safety.”
He continued, “Among the traffic accident fatalities occurring in our country, the proportion of pedestrians is high, and among them, child traffic accident fatalities account for the majority. This appears to be due to a traffic culture where ‘vehicles have priority’ over pedestrians, making it urgent to create a traffic environment safe for pedestrians.”
He also said, “To this end, we will install unmanned cameras and traffic lights in child protection zones and maintain and strengthen safety facilities such as safety signs, anti-slip pavement, speed bumps, and yellow carpets to create a safe environment for going to and from school. We will sequentially install sidewalks and pedestrian paths on elementary school roads without sidewalks to enhance child traffic safety,” emphasizing his commitment.
