Gyeonggi-do Extends Resident Participation Budget Proposal Contest Until the 30th... 50 Billion KRW Scale
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province is extending the public contest period for the 50 billion KRW scale Resident Participatory Budget Citizen Proposal Project from the original deadline of the 10th of this month to the 30th.
This decision comes in response to the cancellation of city and county briefing sessions due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and restrictions on resident promotion caused by social distancing measures.
Gyeonggi Province introduced the Resident Participatory Budget system in 2012 to guarantee resident participation throughout the entire budget formulation process.
This year, to make it easier for anyone to propose, the contest is divided into ▲ Citizen Proposal Type proposed by residents (30 billion KRW), ▲ Regional Support Type submitted to the province by city and county Resident Participatory Budget Committees (10 billion KRW), and ▲ Public-Private Cooperation Type proposed by non-profit private organizations and committees (10 billion KRW).
Proposed projects will undergo deliberation processes such as the Public-Private Budget Council and expert pre-consultations to enhance effectiveness and be reflected in the budget as much as possible.
Any citizen can participate by submitting a resident proposal (contest) project application containing ideas in the relevant field via the Gyeonggi Province Resident Participatory Budget website (https://yesan.gg.go.kr), email (g-budget@gg.go.kr), or mail (Gyeonggi Provincial Government Budget Office).
Applications are accepted year-round, but to be reflected in the 2021 main budget, submissions must be made by the concentrated submission deadline of the 30th.
