LG Innotek Wins GM Quality Excellence Award in the US for 3 Consecutive Years
LG Innotek "Global Certification Acquisition and Participation in Standard Development... Improving Quality Management Level"
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] LG Innotek has received the Quality Excellence Award from the global automaker GM in the United States for three consecutive years.
LG Innotek announced on the 5th that it received the '2019 Quality Excellence Award (2019 GM Supplier Quality Excellence Award)' from GM. The 'Quality Excellence Award' is given annually by GM to suppliers who meet the zero-defect quality standard. GM has awarded LG Innotek the Quality Excellence Award four times in total, in 2015, 2017, and every year since then.
Since 2010, LG Innotek has been supplying GM with electric vehicle parts such as the Battery Management System (BMS), which manages the charging status, efficiency, and lifespan of electric vehicle batteries; the DC-DC converter that converts high-voltage direct current power to low-voltage direct current suitable for internal vehicle devices; and the Electric Vehicle Communication Controller (EVCC), which performs functions to exchange information such as charging status, user, and fees between electric vehicles and charging devices.
In addition to GM, global automotive parts companies such as Germany's Continental and Schaeffler have also selected LG Innotek as a top-tier partner.
LG Innotek stated that it has been operating a Quality Management Center directly under the CEO for the past 13 years with the goal of zero quality issues in automotive parts. Along with this, LG Innotek explained that it is improving its quality management level through acquiring global certifications and participating in standard development.
Last year, LG Innotek recorded sales of 1.132 trillion KRW in the automotive parts business alone, more than double the 532.5 billion KRW sales in 2014. LG Innotek is accelerating its efforts to target the next-generation automotive parts market, including electric vehicles, connected cars, and autonomous vehicles.
