This is an increase of 368 cases compared to the total counted by NHK up to the previous day.
Japan's daily new COVID-19 cases have been setting new records for five consecutive days from the 31st of last month to the 4th of this month.
The new confirmed cases were 242 on the 31st of last month, 266 on the 1st, 281 on the 2nd, 353 on the 3rd, and even more on the 4th.
This figure includes those who were on the cruise ship Diamond Princess.
As of the 4th, the cumulative death toll reached 95, an increase of 7 from the previous day.
