Boseong-gun Launches Special Support for 115 Taxi Drivers
1st Supplementary Budget Provides 300,000 Won per Person... Additional 500,000 Won Planned for May
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Yong-chul] Boseong-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that it will provide a special support fund of 300,000 KRW per person individually to taxi drivers who are struggling due to COVID-19.
The number of recipients is 115, and a support fund of 34.5 million KRW has been confirmed in the first supplementary budget and is scheduled to be provided within this month.
This support fund was allocated as a special support fund in the supplementary budget to prioritize helping the livelihood stability of local taxi drivers whose income has decreased due to a reduction in passengers caused by the stagnation of the travel and tourism industry amid COVID-19.
Additionally, in May, an emergency support of 57.5 million KRW (500,000 KRW per person) will be provided to taxi drivers in accordance with the Jeollanam-do taxi driver emergency support.
The additional support fund is planned to be paid in Boseong Sarang gift certificates, a local currency, to revitalize the local economy.

So far, the county has supported taxi companies with 676 masks and 362 hand sanitizers to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, and in March, it actively worked to reduce the difficulties of local residents by early executing taxi advertising expenses of 95 million KRW (840,000 KRW per vehicle) conducted for local promotion.
