Gyeonggi-do Urges Restraint in Cherry Blossom Viewing Around Provincial Government Office
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province has urged residents to refrain from viewing cherry blossoms around the provincial government office.
On the 3rd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will enforce strict physical (social) distancing measures by restricting general vehicle access to the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office during the first and second weekends of April, and by intensifying crackdowns on illegal street vendors and illegal parking.
The province had previously canceled the spring flower festival planned for early this month to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to this measure, from the night of the 3rd through Sunday, full vehicle restrictions will be implemented inside the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office, its outer parking lots, and the nearby Suwon Cultural Center.
Additionally, patrols will be strengthened on the road in front of the government office’s main gate until the 10th of this month to prevent illegal street vending and illegal parking. In cooperation with Suwon City, focused crackdowns on illegal street vendors and parking will also be conducted on major walking trails of Paldal Mountain until the 12th.
To ease residents’ disappointment over the cancellation of the spring flower festival, an 'Online Spring Flower Festival' will be held on the Gyeonggi Province YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/ggholics) from 4 PM to 5 PM on the 8th.
Featuring the cast of the entertainment podcast 'Japseureoun Yeonae' (Kim Myo-seong, MC Jangwon, Oh Chang-seok, Kim Ik-geun) along with singer Kwon In-ha, the event will include various stories, song introductions, and promotion of physical distancing.
