The 528 tongjang (community leaders) of Yangcheon-gu want to join the ‘Value-Added Consumption Together’ campaign to help the financially struggling local commercial districts affected by reduced consumption, and share their hearts in turning crisis into hope.”
The tongjang, who always listen to and communicate with residents on the ground, spoke in unison.
Yangcheon-gu (Mayor Kim Soo-young) announced on the morning of the 2nd that the Yangcheon-gu Tongjang Association took the lead in launching the ‘Value-Added Consumption Together’ campaign to support local small business owners.
They showed their willingness to participate in the campaign to revive the stagnant local economy by purchasing Yangcheon Love Gift Certificates with 50% of their tongjang allowances for three months.
In response, Mayor Kim Soo-young of Yangcheon-gu said, “The voluntary leadership shown by the tongjang of Yangcheon-gu will warmly thaw the currently frozen local commercial districts and bring comfort to everyone. I hope that Yangcheon-gu’s ‘Value-Added Consumption Together’ campaign will expand not only within Yangcheon-gu but nationwide, becoming a stepping stone to overcome the current difficult situation.”
