Up to 500,000 KRW per month for unpaid leave workers at small businesses with fewer than 5 employees, supported for 2 months... Apply monthly from the 1st to 10th via Gwanak-gu Office Yongkkumkkuneun Job Cafe, etc.
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) announced that it will provide employment retention support funds for unpaid leave to prevent unemployment and maintain the livelihood of workers at small business establishments struggling due to COVID-19.
With a total project budget of 646 million KRW, the support targets workers employed at small business establishments with fewer than five employees located in Gwanak-gu who are enrolled in employment insurance and have taken unpaid leave for five days or more since February 23, when COVID-19 was elevated to the 'serious' stage. However, sole proprietors, spouses of business owners, and relatives within the fourth degree of kinship are excluded from support. The number of supported workers is limited to two per company for tourism businesses severely affected by COVID-19, and one per company for other businesses, with a maximum monthly payment of 500,000 KRW for two months.
Applications for support can be submitted from the 1st to the 10th of each month for unpaid leave days of the previous month. For April only, applications can be made for unpaid leave support from February 23 to March 31.
Applications can be submitted by visiting the Yongkkumkkuneun Job Cafe in the basement level 1 of Gwanak-gu Office by the business owner or worker of the small business, or by downloading the application form from the Gwanak-gu Office website (News & Notices → Gwanak News) and submitting it via email (gwanakjob@citizen.seoul.kr), registered mail, or fax (☎879-7908).
The district also offers a service to visit workplaces directly to receive applications for small business owners who find it difficult to visit in person.
After reviewing applicants, the district will select support recipients and pay the support funds to their accounts around the 22nd of each month.
Mayor Park Junhee stated, “We hope this helps stabilize employment and maintain the livelihood of workers at local small businesses who face unavoidable unpaid leave due to COVID-19. We will continue to do our best to revitalize the local economy through various support measures until the COVID-19 situation calms down.”
