Italy First Returning Korean Residents: 1 Positive Case Among 11 Symptomatic Individuals (Update)
Overseas Koreans and expatriates from the Milan area in Italy are returning to Korea on the 1st via a charter flight through Incheon International Airport Terminal 2. Upon arrival, they all move to a designated facility to undergo COVID-19 testing. View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Cho Hyun-ui] Among 309 Korean nationals returning from Italy on the first repatriation flight, one person was confirmed positive for the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). This result came from diagnostic tests conducted on 11 symptomatic individuals.
Kim Kang-lip, the 1st General Coordinator of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, stated at a regular briefing held at the Government Complex Sejong on the 2nd, "Among the 309 Korean nationals and their families who boarded the temporary flight from Milan, Italy, 11 symptomatic individuals underwent COVID-19 diagnostic tests at the open screening clinic inside Incheon Airport. Among them, one was confirmed positive and was transferred to a medical institution."
The remaining 289 nationals were transported by chartered buses to a temporary living facility for overseas Koreans and admitted. Diagnostic tests have been underway since the morning. If any test results turn positive in the future, patients will be transferred to medical institutions or residential treatment centers depending on the severity.

The second temporary flight for Korean nationals in Italy is scheduled to arrive at Incheon Airport at 4 p.m. today, carrying 205 overseas Koreans and their families from Rome and Milan. Upon arrival, all will be moved immediately to a temporary living facility in Cheonan, Chungnam, where they will undergo two COVID-19 tests over four nights and five days. If the results are negative, they will switch to 14 days of self-quarantine, but if even one person tests positive, all will be quarantined in the facility for 14 days.
