Hwang Kyo-ahn: "We Will Fulfill the People's Wish to Set the Nation Right"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] Hwang Kyo-ahn, leader of the Future United Party, vowed to realize the people's wish to "correct the misguided national administration" and expressed his determination to judge the current regime.
On the evening of the 1st, Hwang attended the 'Save the Nation, Revive the Economy' launch declaration ceremony and said, "The April 15 general election is, no matter what anyone says, an election to judge the failures of the Moon Jae-in administration over the past three years."
Hwang said, "I cannot forget the passionate cries of the people at Gwanghwamun last winter to restore fairness and justice shattered by the Cho Kuk incident," adding, "The people's desperate outcry to correct the economy and livelihoods devastated by income-led growth, and the security and diplomacy completely ruined by pandering to North Korea, is still vivid in my eyes."
He continued, "A stern evaluation must be made of the incompetence and arrogance that have driven the Republic of Korea into a comprehensive crisis," emphasizing, "Judgment is not only about holding the past accountable but also a stepping stone toward a better future. Unchecked power has led to the disastrous national administration failures of the past three years."
Park Hyung-joon, co-chairman of the joint election committee, said, "The opposition party is still lacking in many ways. Although many changes have been led so far, the people may still be dissatisfied," adding, "However, if you do not empower the opposition in this election, the Republic of Korea cannot be set right."
Park stated, "If the people think that this country, as experienced and felt over the past three years, is not right, please give your support to the opposition despite its shortcomings," and declared, "The opportunity is a 'Daddy's chance,' the process is document forgery, and the result is fraudulent admission?this hypocrisy and pretense of the regime must be judged in this election."
Shin Se-don, co-chairman of the joint election committee, said, "The damage from COVID-19 will not end soon. A massive unemployment crisis is about to hit," and criticized, "No matter what happens, mass unemployment must be prevented, but the government is fumbling and patching up with piecemeal measures without any preparation for the upcoming employment crisis."

He questioned, "Is this the 'certain change' promised in the 2020 New Year's address?" and emphasized, "Over the past three years, we have been fed up with a government that rules arrogantly, does not engage in dialogue, and does not communicate. We have painfully witnessed a government where opportunities are not equal, processes are not fair, and results are not just. It must end now."
