60s Taxi Driver Who Set Himself on Fire, a Taxi Association Director, Arrested for "Conflict Over Association Management"
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] A taxi driver who set fire to an executive's body amid conflicts over the operation of the taxi association and then fled has been arrested.
On the 1st, Kwon Kyung-sun, the warrant judge at the Seoul Western District Court, issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Lee, a taxi driver in his 60s, on charges of attempted murder, stating "there is a risk of flight," as requested by the prosecution.
Mr. Lee is accused of attempting to kill Director A of the Korea Taxi Cooperative by pouring a flammable substance on his body and setting it on fire inside the dispatch office of the Korea Taxi Cooperative located in Mapo-gu, Seoul, at around 1:30 a.m. on the 29th of last month. Director A suffered second-degree burns and was transferred to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Mr. Lee fled the scene but surrendered himself to the Mapo Police Station in Seoul at around 11 p.m. the following day. It is reported that Mr. Lee had ongoing conflicts with the current cooperative board, including Director A, and had been subject to complaints and accusations from them.
