Ministry of Justice to Share 'Location Information of Foreign Entrants' with Local Governments in Real Time
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyung-min] The Ministry of Justice announced on the 1st that it has digitized the system for sharing contact and address information of foreigners in order to prevent the domestic inflow of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) and to facilitate smooth information sharing with local governments.
The Ministry of Justice improved the previous method of manually recording the whereabouts of foreigners without smartphones and delivering the information to local governments into an electronic system.
Accordingly, starting from today, immigration officers will input the address and contact information of foreigners during the entry inspection stage into the system, then download and provide it to local governments via email.
In addition, from the 7th, the Ministry of Justice plans to establish a system where the address and contact information entered by immigration officers into the inspection system will be automatically categorized, allowing the relevant local governments to view and download the data in real time.
