A special early voting station will be established for voters who were diagnosed with COVID-19 after the absentee voting registration period conducted by mail.
Kwon Soon-il, Chairman of the Central Election Commission, stated on the 1st in a message titled "A Message to the People for the Realization of a Beautiful Election," "We will prepare measures so that voters can vote with peace of mind, with the attitude that the best quarantine is the best election management."
He said, "We will thoroughly disinfect and sanitize polling stations, and voters who have registered for absentee voting due to COVID-19 diagnosis can vote at hospitals, residential treatment centers, etc. On the day of voting, fever checks will be conducted at the entrance of polling stations, and a temporary polling station will be set up for voters showing symptoms."
He pointed out that this election is held in the year marking the 60th anniversary of the April 19 Revolution. Chairman Kwon said, "It will be an important turning point opening the future of the Republic of Korea," and urged, "Please carefully review the policies and pledges presented by political parties and candidates and cast your precious vote."
