According to the city on the 31st, with a budget of 450 million KRW, it plans to renovate facilities and establish automated equipment for manufacturing health masks by utilizing idle buildings owned by social welfare corporations, and after obtaining approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, produce an average of 10,000 health masks per day.
The masks produced in this way will be supported in connection with the mask distribution project for 157,000 vulnerable people in the region, including basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, and residents of social welfare facilities, and will be prioritized for distribution to users of social welfare facilities.
The city plans to install a vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled here and operate it with a total of 30 disabled workers and trainees. They will participate in various rehabilitation and work activity programs and inspect and package masks produced through automated equipment to create finished products.
The city expects that stable mask supply through the vocational rehabilitation facility for the disabled will be possible due to the increased demand for masks caused by the spread of COVID-19 and fine dust. Along with this, it is expected to promote self-sufficiency and independence of the disabled through job creation and income improvement.
