Nuclear Environment Corporation to Return 30% of Executive Salaries... Promotes Early Budget Execution
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bo-kyung] The Korea Radioactive Waste Agency has decided to participate in overcoming the crisis caused by the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) by returning salaries of executives and key managers and accelerating budget execution.
According to the Radioactive Waste Agency on the 31st, executives such as the agency’s chairman and vice chairman will voluntarily return 30% of their monthly salary for four months, and managers will return within a 15% range. The returned salaries will be used to help small business owners and traditional markets in the Gyeongju area who are struggling due to COVID-19.
Employees will be encouraged to participate in social distancing to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and to purchase daily necessities and food ingredients locally to help the regional economy.
Additionally, the agency plans to support small business owners and farmers facing difficulties due to COVID-19 by promoting local product purchases and early budget execution.
To assist strawberry farmers who are having difficulties delivering school meals due to school reopening delays, the agency will purchase strawberries in consultation with the Gyeongju Strawberry Farming Association and implement the Pink Muhly landscaping project, originally scheduled for the second half of the year, immediately.
They will also make early purchases of PCs for new employees, company vehicles, and consumables, and increase the advance payment ratio for service contracts up to 80%.
Meanwhile, since early last month, the agency has started shopping at traditional markets to overcome the COVID-19 crisis, provided 25,000 masks to elementary schools around the disposal site and vulnerable groups, and delivered 300 sets each of daily necessity kits for COVID-19 self-quarantined individuals and snacks for medical personnel.
