View original image[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seo Young-seo] Kim San, the governor of Muan County, issued a statement through an emergency briefing at 10 a.m. on the 31st regarding the occurrence of additional confirmed cases in Muan.
Governor Kim San said, "I am very sorry and regretful to inform the residents of the additional confirmed cases," and added, "We will do our best to prevent further spread by mobilizing all our capabilities."
He continued, "Immediately after the confirmed patient was transferred to Chonnam National University Hospital on the 30th, we disinfected the patient's home and adjacent areas, collected the generated waste, and completed a second round of disinfection at the site from 7 a.m. on the 31st."
He further explained, "To inform the residents about the confirmed case, we transparently and promptly disclosed the circumstances of the case, epidemiological investigation results, and quarantine measures by broadcasting to the entire village, sending text messages to all residents, and posting the movement routes on the website."
According to the briefing materials, the second confirmed case in Muan is a 92-year-old woman residing in Mangun-myeon. The youngest son of the confirmed patient, who lives in Seoul, is an employee of Manmin Church in Seoul and stayed at his mother's house in Mangun-myeon, his hometown, with his fourth brother from the 23rd to the 25th.
Afterwards, the youngest son traveled back to Seoul by car on the 25th, and on the morning of the 30th around 9 a.m., he tested positive and was transferred to Boramae Hospital around 1 p.m.
Accordingly, Muan County collected specimens and requested tests for the mother and fourth brother who stayed with the 22nd confirmed case in Dongjak-gu, Seoul (the youngest son) around 10 a.m. on the 30th.
The fourth brother tested negative, but the mother tested positive around 10 p.m. and was transferred to Chonnam National University Hospital around 11 p.m.
In addition to the mother and fourth brother, two acquaintances of the 22nd confirmed case in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, were identified as additional related persons. The second confirmed case in Muan is understood to have mobility difficulties and does not go out, and close contacts include the second, third, and fourth sons and one caregiver.
As for secondary contacts, investigations so far found no related persons for the second and third sons, while six related persons were identified for the fourth son and five for the caregiver.
After investigating all contacts and related persons, a total of 17 individuals were identified. Specimens were collected at night and tested, and all were confirmed negative on the 31st.
Currently, four people are under self-quarantine, and the secondary contacts who tested negative are being monitored in real time.

Governor Kim San stated, "Our Muan is at a critical crossroads between the spread of COVID-19 and the path of control," and added, "Together with about 800 public officials, we will support the residents with one heart and one mind and strive to overcome this difficulty together."
