April 2 'World Autism Awareness Day' ... Busan's Major Landmarks Bathed in Blue Light
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jonghyo] Busan City announced on the 30th that it will promote the "Blue Light Campaign" to mark "World Autism Awareness Day" on the 2nd of next month.
The Blue Light Campaign is a global campaign that lights up blue lights at local landmarks around the world to symbolize interest and understanding of autism in commemoration of World Autism Awareness Day. More than 20,000 landmarks in over 170 countries worldwide participate, and Busan City has been joining since 2018.
Busan City will simultaneously turn on blue lights from sunset to midnight on the 1st and 2nd of next month at locations including the Busan City Hall building, Gwangandaegyo Bridge, Yongdusan Park, Busan Bank Headquarters, Busan Cinema Center, Hwangnyeongsan Transmission Tower, Haeundae LCT The Sharp & The Residence, Namhang Bridge, Jagalchi Market, Busan Citizens Park, and Songsanghyeon Square.
In addition, the city plans to inform citizens of the campaign's significance through the city hall outdoor electronic display board, SNS, and YouTube channels, and encourage citizen participation in the campaign through hashtag campaigns (#WorldAutismAwarenessDay #LIUB #LightItUpBlue).

A Busan City official said, "We hope this event will serve as an opportunity to raise citizens' interest and understanding of developmental disabilities including autism," and added, "We will work harder to create a happier Busan where people with and without disabilities live together."
