20s Detained After Stockpiling and Inhaling Hallucinogen 'Happy Balloon' Following Parents' Report
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] Police have arrested a man in his 20s who was stockpiling and inhaling nitrous oxide, known as 'Happy Balloon,' which causes hallucinations when inhaled, at his home.
On the 30th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul announced that they arrested Lee Mo (26) on the 25th on the spot for violating the Chemical Substances Control Act.
At the time, police responded to a report from Lee's parents stating, "Our daughter is using hallucinogenic substances." Lee denied, saying, "There are no drugs like that in the house," but a search of the home uncovered 290 unused Happy Balloons and 260 already used ones, totaling 550 canisters.
Lee reportedly said that she received the Happy Balloons from an older female acquaintance.
Lee has a history of multiple arrests for drug use, and it is reported that her parents, worried about this, reported her to the police.
