According to NHK, as of 3:30 PM on that day, 68 new confirmed cases were identified within Tokyo. Among them, 20 were related to a general hospital in Taito Ward, Tokyo, where a cluster infection occurred. The cumulative number of confirmed cases in Tokyo increased to 430, and the total number of confirmed cases in Japan, including 712 cases from the Diamond Princess cruise ship, rose to 2,511.
Earlier, Tokyo requested residents to refrain from going out during the weekend due to concerns over a potential explosive spread of infections. However, at least 131 new cases were added over the weekend. In Tokyo, after three consecutive days from the 25th to the 27th with more than 40 confirmed cases each day, the number increased to the 60s over the weekend, continuing the rapid upward trend.
