Track Athlete with 'Tokyo2020' Tattoo Faces Trouble... Netizens Say "Let's Wait and See"
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Park Hee-eun] A Paraguayan track and field athlete tattooed "Tokyo 2020" on his leg but asked netizens for help after the Tokyo Olympics schedule was postponed to 2021.
Paraguayan marathon runner Delis Ayala (30) posted a photo on his social media showing his leg tattooed with the words "Tokyo 2020" and the Olympic rings.
He also posted a message saying, "Please help me to change (2020 to) 2021."
Among nearly 400 comments from netizens, the suggestion to change "2020" to "2020-2021" is gaining the most support.
Some fans advised adding "+1" after "2020," while others suggested adding "ne" after the last "0" in "2020" to make it "0ne" (one).
Meanwhile, some fans recommended leaving it as is, citing that "Tokyo 2020" is the official name and that "we don't know what might happen in 2021."
Meanwhile, the Tokyo Olympics, originally scheduled for July this year, were postponed to 2021 due to the impact of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) that swept the world. According to the Tokyo Olympic Organizing Committee, even if the games are held in 2021, the official name will remain "Tokyo 2020."
