Donation of Goods and Funds Worth 100 Million Won from Children to Anonymous Donors
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] “Hello hardworking doctors in Daegu! I am Jang ○○, a third grader at Seoul Songjeong Elementary School. You must have had a hard time recently because of the COVID-19 confirmed cases, right? Stay strong!”
On the 23rd, Jang ○○, a third grader at Seoul Songjeong Elementary School, visited the Gangseo-gu Gonghang-dong Community Service Center and delivered a piggy bank along with a handwritten letter of support, asking for it to be given to the medical staff in Daegu who are working hard to overcome COVID-19.
The piggy bank contained 161,060 won of allowance money that Jang ○○ had saved up so far.
As the COVID-19 situation prolongs, warm donation campaigns from all walks of life continue in Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song).
On the 4th, two 8-year-old children visited the Gayang 1-dong Community Service Center and handed over 71,000 won of allowance money collected with their small hands along with a letter of support, asking for it to be used to overcome COVID-19.
The letter included a message of encouragement: “Please use this for patients suffering from the novel coronavirus. We hope everyone returns home healthy and happy. Fighting, Republic of Korea!”
On the 9th, an anonymous donor visited the Hwagok 6-dong Community Service Center with an elementary school child, expressing a desire to help neighbors in difficulty due to COVID-19, and delivered 15 masks, an envelope containing cash, and a piggy bank.
Also, on the 23rd, an anonymous donor donated 171,000 won in cash in an envelope handwritten with the message “Let’s overcome this together, COVID-19. Fighting!” to the Hwagok 1-dong Community Service Center.
Many companies and organizations have also joined the donation campaign to overcome COVID-19.
KH Energy donated 10,000 masks to the Gangseo branch of the Seoul Private Taxi Association to ensure the safety of individual taxi drivers who travel around the city and the residents who use taxis.
Workflow Company (Samhyun Pharmaceutical & Cinnamonio) and Daebang Construction donated hygiene products such as hand sanitizers worth 10 million won and 5 million won respectively, and Geumseong Nutrition Food and Promise Language Institute each donated 5 million won in cash.
The Gangseo Chamber of Commerce donated 8 million won and the Gangseo Regional Council of Corporate Taxis donated 6.4 million won, asking for support for vulnerable groups suffering from COVID-19.
In addition, warm hands continue from various sectors including volunteer groups, small business owners, and individual sponsors in various ways.
The donated funds and goods will be used through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to support vulnerable groups and medical staff struggling due to COVID-19.
