Geumcheon-gu, Recruitment of Residents for Borin Happy Housing (Branch 6, 15 Units)
Supply of 15 Units for Low-Income Elderly Living Alone Aged 65+ in Geumcheon-gu... Rent at 30% of Market Rate, Up to 20 Years Residency if Eligibility Maintained
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) is recruiting residents for Borin Happy Housing (6th branch) from March 30 to April 3.
Borin Happy Housing is a senior citizen-tailored public one-room housing introduced by Geumcheon-gu in cooperation with Seoul City and SH (Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation) to improve the poor living conditions of the elderly and support a healthy old age.
The 6th branch of Borin Happy Housing being supplied this time is located at 44, Doksan-ro 27-gil (Siheung 1-dong), with a site area of 255.75㎡, a total floor area of 511.23㎡, and consists of one 5-story building with a total of 15 households.
The recruitment target is single elderly residents aged 65 or older who receive basic living security benefits and reside in Geumcheon-gu. Applicants must comply with the management regulations suitable for community housing characteristics and agree to participate in community programs.
The rent is about 30% of the surrounding market price, and the basic lease period is 2 years. If the residency qualifications are maintained, residents can live for up to 20 years.
Detailed information such as eligibility requirements, application locations, and rent can be found in the ‘Notices & Announcements’ section on the Geumcheon-gu Office website.
The district plans to announce the final residents on June 5, 2020, after conducting a field survey of applicants. On June 12, room allocation and community education will be held. Residents will sign contracts with SH Corporation by the end of June and move in by early August.
For elderly residents lacking rental deposits, the district provides loans covering 90% of the deposit at an annual interest rate of 2%, and supports prevention of elderly solitary deaths and customized residential life through elderly check-ins and community activation programs.
Additionally, unmanned parcel lockers, security CCTV, and solar power generators will be installed to ensure the safety and convenience of residents.
Since starting with Borin Housing (1st branch) in 2015, the district has established Borin Dure (2nd branch), Borin Haetsal (3rd branch) in 2016, Borin Hamkke (4th branch), Borin Hope (5th branch) in 2020, and Borin Happy Housing (6th branch), supporting happy old age lives for the elderly. Up to the 4th branch, a total of 56 single elderly households live in comfortable residential spaces, and 20 households are about to move into the 5th branch.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Housing issues are directly related to residents’ quality of life, so improving living environments must precede to prevent elderly solitary deaths. We will actively support not only Borin Happy Housing 6th branch but also continuous Borin Housing supply projects so that low-income elderly can enjoy a beautiful old age.”
