On the 26th, Songpa-gu announced that it will sign a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ogeum High School and Seoul Women's University, and Jam-il High School and Chung-Ang University in writing.
In accordance with the government's 'high-intensity social distancing' guidelines, Songpa-gu conducted the MOU signing in writing.
Songpa-gu, which is promoting its own education program Songpa SSEM (Songpa Smart Education Model), explained that through this agreement, excellent university resources will provide career and aptitude-tailored education at local high schools to nurture local talent.
This is part of the '2020 High School-University Linked Local Talent Development Project,' with about 100 million KRW invested.
According to this agreement, starting in April, outstanding university instructors will visit local high schools to provide customized education in four areas: regular classes, clubs, after-school programs, and career guidance.
Songpa-gu emphasized that, in line with the basic purpose of Songpa SSEM, the focus is on holistic education that fosters creativity and character required by future society, moving away from excessive competition centered on entrance exams and grade obsession, and on developing students' physical fitness, creativity, collaboration, and empathy.
Ogeum High School will have Seoul Women's University instructors cultivate future competencies suited to the Fourth Industrial Revolution era.
They will conduct a total of 10 programs including △ information security through gamification (applying game elements such as achievement, levels, and rewards to induce behavior change in various fields such as education, management, marketing, and fitness) △ drone autonomous flight coding △ Internet of Things (IoT) experience using Arduino (a small computer for making simple digital devices) △ and production of engaging video content.
Jam-il High School will have Chung-Ang University instructors strengthen students' humanities knowledge in history, culture, and philosophy, and collaborate on career consulting. A total of 11 programs will be operated, including △ cultivating human rights sensitivity △ in-depth exploration of cultural history by era △ basic literacy and practical research for social issue researchers △ and admissions officer career consulting.
