The Cyber Safety Division of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the 26th that A (16), who operated a Telegram chatroom called 'Pacific Expedition' and distributed child sexual exploitation materials, was sent to prosecution in custody on charges including violation of the Act on the Protection of Children and Juveniles Against Sexual Abuse on the 20th of last month.
According to the police, A is suspected of distributing sexual exploitation videos through a separate chatroom called 'Pacific Expedition' while acting as an operator of the 'Doctor's Room' since October last year.
It is reported that he later operated the Pacific Expedition, which had about 10,000 members registered until February of this year, under the name Pacific.
When the police investigation into the 'Doctor's Room' case began in earnest, A notified members in January last year to move to a messenger called 'Wire,' which has enhanced security compared to Telegram. 'Wire' is known to be closed off enough that one cannot join a chatroom without receiving an invitation link to a specific chatroom.
The police plan to expand the investigation, considering the possibility that A might continue to distribute sexual exploitation materials using chatroom names like Pacific even after being caught.

Meanwhile, the police arrested Jo Joo-bin and 13 accomplices who threatened minors and women to produce sexual exploitation materials and distributed them in the Doctor's Room. Most of them are men in their mid-20s, and minors were also confirmed to be included.
