Professor at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies Exposes 'Obscene Material' During Online Lecture
[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Kim Yeon-ju] Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, a controversy has arisen at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies (HUFS), where online lectures are being conducted, after a scene showing a professor receiving obscene material via messenger was exposed during a lecture.
According to HUFS students on the 25th, a mobile messenger window containing obscene material appeared in a pre-recorded lecture video by Professor A.
While conducting the online lecture by sharing his PC screen, Professor A checked a messenger notification that popped up. The messenger window contained a video of sexual activity sent by someone. According to students, the professor did not open the video but closed the messenger window and continued the class.
Following the controversy, Professor A took down the lecture video and posted an apology on the university's online bulletin board. Professor A stated, "I am not exactly sure what kind of error occurred, but something happened during the recording process when uploading the material that I was completely unaware of, so I am also embarrassed. I apologize for causing discomfort to everyone due to my mistake in not paying close enough attention."
