Yeongdeungpo 'Sareoga Market' Site Reborn as Apartments and Public Office Buildings
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] The site of 'Sareoga Market' in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, will be developed into a complex including multi-family housing, officetels, and public offices.
On the 25th, Seoul City held the 3rd Urban and Architectural Joint Committee and announced on the 26th that it had approved the amendment of the district unit plan for the Shingil District Center in the area of 255-9 Shingil-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, and the detailed development plan (draft) for the Sareoga Market Special Planning Zone.
Sareoga Market, located in Shingil 3-dong, Yeongdeungpo-gu, was designated as an urban planning facility market in 1983 and has now completed market closure. With this district unit plan amendment, the urban planning facility market will be abolished, and the Sareoga Market Special Planning Zone will be newly established along with the detailed development plan.
The main content of the detailed development plan is to construct multi-family housing, officetels, neighborhood living facilities, and public rental housing in the special planning zone, including the market site and its surrounding area, with 4 basement floors and 18 to 24 floors above ground. Some parts of the building will be designated as public offices in a three-dimensional manner and will be used as the Shingil 3-dong Community Service Center.
A Seoul City official said, "With this detailed development plan decision, high-quality residential facilities will be supplied within the commercial area," adding, "It is expected that land can be used efficiently by also providing infrastructure for local residents."
